A Brooklyn studio that needs a bedroom by Tuesday. A Manhattan office that needs a phone room before the new hires badge in. A Miami gallery that needs walls up by Thursday. Wildly different problems — but every one of them runs through the same three steps on our end. No permits, no contractors, no surprises. Here’s what those three steps actually look like from the inside.

Step one — tell us about the space

Most quotes happen on photos. Send us three things:

  • Where the wall goes. A snapshot or rough sketch does it. Add floor dimensions, ceiling height, and any troublemakers you already know about — a radiator, a light switch, an inconveniently devout sprinkler head, the dehumidifier nobody mentioned.
  • What it needs to do. Privacy for a bedroom. A focus room on an open floor. A one-week gallery hang. The brief shapes the build.
  • Your timeline. Standard production runs four to six weeks depending on the product, panel count, and finish. Hard deadline? Flag it on the quote — we keep rush capacity in the schedule, but it’s reserved for the projects that say so up front.

Most quotes come back inside twenty-four hours, and there’s no site visit required — the walls don’t attach to your building, so we don’t need to inspect the structure to price the work.

Step two — we build and ship

Every wall is custom-built to your dimensions in our Brooklyn shop, and while we build, you do precisely nothing. No prep, no clearing the space, no scheduling your week around a contractor who said Tuesday and meant Friday. When it’s ready, we crate it and ship — every crate sized to clear standard doorways, freight elevators, and apartment hallways, because twenty-five years of New York deliveries teaches you which dimensions actually matter. Nothing special needed at the receiving end.

Step three — stand it up

Most walls go up in thirty minutes to a few hours. Residential models usually need no tools at all; larger commercial and event builds use simple hand tools and a second pair of hands to carry panels. The wall stands up, and you’re done — no drying time, no inspection, no certificate. You use the room the same minute.

What “freestanding” actually means (and why it matters)

This is the one engineering decision that makes everything else possible. Every 1W2R wall is built to stand on its own weight without anchoring to anything around it — no screws in your walls, no bolts in your ceiling, no anchors in your floor. That single choice hands you six things at once:

  • No permits. Furniture isn’t construction.
  • No landlord conversation. Your couch isn’t an “alteration.” Neither is this.
  • No mess. Nothing to clean up after install, nothing to demolish at lease-end.
  • No deposit risk. Walk in clean, walk out clean.
  • Mobility. When you move, it moves with you.
  • Resale value. It’s an asset, not an expense — where a pressurized wall is a write-off the day it goes up.

Why no permits — anywhere

Permits exist for changes to the structure of a space. Because our walls never become part of the building, they never trigger permit review — the same logic that says you don’t file paperwork to carry in a sofa. It holds in NYC, LA, Chicago, Miami, Austin, and every city in between.

Why landlords approve — because there’s nothing to approve

Standard lease clauses govern structural changes and anything fixed to the building. Ours are neither; they live in the same category as your personal furniture. Most renters and most facilities managers never even raise it, because there’s nothing to raise. When you leave, the wall leaves with you, and the space looks exactly as it did the day you arrived.

The commercial system at a glance

  • Construction: 100% freestanding — never touches your ceiling or existing walls
  • Stability: adjustable leveling legs at every panel base, for floors that are never quite level
  • Configurations: straight, L-shaped, Z-shaped, or angled; single or double doors; optional built-in lighting
  • Finish: premium, interchangeable options — reads as architecture, not partition hardware
  • Modularity: vertically and horizontally expandable, reducible, and fully reusable across reconfigurations

What every project delivers

  • Sunlight preserved — configure the panels so daylight passes between zones.
  • Total privacy gained — visual privacy and acoustic dampening, both.
  • Security deposit saved — nothing attached, nothing to repair.
  • Professional result — install in hours, no dust, no patching.
  • Landlord-approved — because it’s furniture, not a renovation.
  • Nationwide reach — built in Brooklyn, delivered everywhere.

Ready to transform your space?

Call 212.671.0722 or email sales@1w2r.com with a floor plan and a deadline.

If your office sits in our install service area — NYC, NJ, CT, and the broader Tristate area, plus select zip codes in Miami, LA, and a handful of other metros — we’ll come back with a preliminary layout and quote, then book a final walk-through to confirm dimensions and finishes. With a down payment in, production runs four to six weeks depending on the product and panel count, and our crew handles the overnight or weekend install.

Outside our install service area, send the same brief — floor plan, dimensions, and the office zip — and we’ll review remotely, quote, and take a down payment. Production runs four to six weeks, then we ship the system to your office for self-assembly, designed to go up without contractors or tools.
